Design an app that will improve the user experience by stream-lining the customization journey for designing Ray-Ban Remix sunglasses. The app should also serve to engage consumers, foster virality and sharing via social media networks.
Due to the limited touch screen “real estate” on smartphones, a design was created that made target toucha reas more easy to access. Additionally, the complex customization system was broken down into semi-steps to ensure the user makes decisions confidently through viewing all possible color combinations. A gamificaiton concept was also developed whereby the user can position saved Ray-Ban Remix designs on his/her face.
Based on usability and performance research conducted within a focus group of 30 people, majority found the app to be engaging. Additionally, the customization journey time was shortened in comparison to the previous online ordering time when accessing the website from a smartphone.
